Releasing Emotions From The Body: What? Where? Why? How?
Understanding Emotional Trauma & How to Release It
We’ve all had moments where we "feel something in our gut" or "carry the weight of the world on our shoulders." It feels heavy, weighty, and often, our feelings shift into a more physical space—pointing to a deeper truth about the way our bodies hold on to emotion.
Emotional trauma, the kind that we don't always know how to process and that lingers silently in the shadows, can quite literally get stored in the body. It can manifest as chronic pain, tension, fatigue, cancer, chrons, arthritis, etc. For example: You might feel an unexplained tightness in your chest or an ache in your lower back that doesn’t respond to any treatment. Maybe you’ve done everything "right"—exercise, healthy food, even therapy—and still feel like something is stuck.
If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. You have negative emotions trapped in your body from years of suppressing them and pushing them down just to "get on with it". Every word you speak you store, its that simple and that challenging.
So, let’s talk about where and why emotions get stored in the body, and how you can begin to release them.
Where Are Emotions Stored in the Body?
You’ve probably heard people say they carry stress in their shoulders or that grief lives in their chest. Well, there is a little more truth to that than we once believed. Our bodies have an incredible way of holding onto experiences—especially traumatic ones—when they haven’t been safely expressed or processed.
The first time we experience an emotion, like a 2-year-old having a tantrum while also battling a cold, that emotion tends to target the weakest part of our body at that moment. In this example, it would be the lungs.
While there are books that suggest specific 'where' and 'what' emotions are stored in our bodies, it's not so straightforward. If it were, all our amazing technological advances in targeting frequencies would solve everything, and no one would be sick. But it's not that simple. While certain emotions like back issues can sometimes reflect deep-seated anger or resentment, it's not a universal rule. Each of us has a unique energy field that is entirely our own. Our emotions are deeply personal and don't fit into a one-size-fits-all storage system in our bodies.
Over time, these trapped emotions can lead to dis-ease in the form of physical tension, disrupted sleep, chronic pain, or a feeling of heaviness. These trapped emotions can even go so far as to lead to cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in severe cases.
Why Does This Happen?
Any time we go through something difficult or uncomfortable, whether it's a major trauma or a more subtle but repeated stressor, our nervous system kicks into protection mode. Either we freeze, run from our feelings, or power through just to get over the hump. These very natural survival mechanisms may help us in the spur of the moment, but the unprocessed emotions that are born from these traumas or stressors don’t just disappear. They go somewhere—and that somewhere is usually in separate "rooms" in the body.
As Patti often says, “Every word is stored, even if you don't mean it in the heat of the moment..” Your body doesn’t have the ability to discern intention. It doesn’t know you didn’t mean something—it simply records the emotion tied to your words. Saying, “Oh, I didn’t mean that,” doesn’t erase the vibration. Once it’s in, it stays—unless you use an active frequency to shift it, or work with one of the few healers truly capable of removing it from your system.
The longer a negative behavior continues, the more likely it is to manifest physically—whether in the form of an illness or dis-ease.
What Does Emotional Release Look Like?
In our world of energy medicine, releasing emotions isn’t just about crying on a therapist’s couch (though, I don't want to knock it at all, there really is room for that). For us, it's also about acknowledging the feelings you've tucked away, and giving your body permission to let go of what it's been holding onto by utilizing active frequency.

During a session, Patti will start off by engaging in a discussion with you to get a better sense of your history. From there she will facilitate a process of "clearing the dirty rooms" in your body so that you may experience deep healing and renewal throughout the body’s tissues and organs. Once your session is complete, Patti provides homework and offers follow ups to make sure your body has responded as it needs to.
- Remote Energy Work: Patti’s expertise extends beyond physical presence. Remote energy work allows her to connect energetically and facilitate emotional release from a distance, providing healing regardless of physical location.
Each of these techniques is tailored to address specific emotional patterns and physical manifestations unique to each individual. By

What If the Emotional Pain Feels Like Too Much?
First, know that you're not weak, broken, or alone.
Traumatic emotions that are entrenched into our bodies can be extremely overwhelming—especially if it’s layered from years of unspoken hurt or buried trauma. And sometimes, we need support to walk through it. And that's okay!
That’s where healing work comes in. Whether you choose to work with Patti or not, know that you don’t have to carry everything by yourself. There’s nothing noble about holding it all in. There is great strength in softening.
It’s Safe to Let Go
Your body is wise. It’s been doing the best it can to protect you, even if that means holding onto things that no longer serve you. But at some point, the armor becomes too heavy. The tension becomes too much. And your body begins to whisper: It’s time.
Releasing emotional trauma doesn’t mean reliving it. In fact, Patti's techniques don't even require you to haul up the memories at all. Instead she guides you into different "rooms" of your body and facilitates the clearing out process, as if tidying a messy room in your home.
If you’re curious about emotional release therapy or want to learn more about where your specific emotions are stored in your body, Patti offers sessions and teachings that go deeper into this life-changing work.
